The DoorDash alternative that doesn't take a cut of every order.
DoorDash's Marketplace plans take 15%, 25%, or 30% of every delivery order. BetterMakesCo gives your restaurant its own branded ordering website, with pickup and delivery, for a flat $299/mo. No commission, no setup fee, month to month.
Why restaurants look for a DoorDash alternative
DoorDash is good at one thing: putting your restaurant in front of people who have never heard of you. The problem is what happens next. Your regulars, the people who already love your food, keep ordering through the app, and you keep paying a commission on every one of those orders.
- The commission never stops. A customer you've served fifty times still costs you 15–30% on their fifty-first delivery order.
- You raise prices to cover it. Many restaurants mark up their menu on the apps, which makes your food look more expensive than it really is.
- The app owns the customer. You don't get their email or phone number, so you can't invite them back, thank them, or tell them about a new dish.
- Your Order button may be working against you. If the Order button on your own website sends people to DoorDash, you're paying commission on customers who came looking for you. Check your site free.
The math: commission vs. a flat monthly price
Here's what a 25% commission (DoorDash's Plus plan) adds up to at different monthly delivery sales, next to BetterMakesCo's flat Core plan.
| Monthly delivery sales | 25% commission | BetterMakesCo Core |
|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | $1,250 / month | $299 / month |
| $10,000 | $2,500 / month | $299 / month |
| $20,000 | $5,000 / month | $299 / month |

You don't have to quit DoorDash
The smartest setup for most restaurants is both: keep DoorDash for people who don't know you yet, and give your regulars a better reason to order from you directly. Put your own ordering link on your website, Google listing, bags, and receipts. Every order that moves over is an order you don't pay commission on.
On the Growth plan ($499/mo), your DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub orders come into the same kitchen tablet as your direct orders, through Otter, so your staff works from one screen.
How it works
- Send us your menu. A photo or PDF is enough. We build your branded ordering website with your menu and prices. No setup fee.
- We connect your payments and kitchen. Clover, Square, and Shift4 POS connections are included; Toast is supported (Toast bills its own $50/mo integration fee). Payouts arrive daily through Stripe.
- Take pickup and delivery orders. For delivery, a courier is booked for each order, and the customer pays the delivery fee at checkout.
- Bring your regulars over. Your link on Google, your website, bags, and receipts, plus reorder messages to customers who already ordered from you.
Questions restaurants ask
How much commission does DoorDash charge restaurants?
DoorDash's published Marketplace plans charge 15% (Basic), 25% (Plus), or 30% (Premier) on delivery orders, and 6% on pickup orders, with no monthly fee. Rates can change, so check DoorDash's merchant pricing page for the latest.
Does BetterMakesCo charge commission?
No. You pay a flat monthly price: $299/mo for Core or $499/mo for Growth, per location. There is no percentage of your sales and no setup fee, and plans are month to month. Card processing is extra, and your customers pay a $0.99 service fee per online order at checkout.
Do I have to leave DoorDash?
No. Most restaurants keep DoorDash for new customers and move their regulars to ordering direct. On the Growth plan, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub orders all land on one kitchen tablet through Otter.
Who delivers orders from my own site?
A courier from an on-demand delivery network is booked for each delivery order, and the customer pays the delivery fee at checkout. You don't need your own drivers.
Can you promise how much I'll save?
No, and be careful of anyone who does. Your savings depend on how many of your customers order from your own site. We'll show you the numbers for your restaurant so you can decide.
